High shrink ratios, internal adhesive coatings, and different wall thicknesses.
The standard: 135°C, many colors, and UL approved. Other types may offer more specialised properties such as higher shrink ratios from 2:1 to 4:1, higher operating temperatures, or self-sealing hoses protecting against dust and moisture: An inner adhesive layer melts during the shrinking process and reliably seals the hose, thus offering long term protection indoors and outdoors.
Special variants are used to protect sensitive electronics, for example they are particularly thin-walled and therefore quickly shrinking, or they are highly abrasion-resistant (made of PVDF), diesel-resistant (fluoroelastomer) or develop little to no toxic smoke gases (important in fire-protected areas such as tunnel construction).
