Talcum coating of silicone tubes with glass braiding

Talcum coated silicone tubes

Problem definition:

  • Friction and adhesion: Untreated silicone hoses have a tendancy to quite a high friction and adhesion, especially when they lie next to each other in cable harnesses. This makes any movement e.g. adjustments, difficult.

  • Increased Stiffness in cable harnesses: The adhesion makes the cable harness stiffer, which typically causes problems during installation.

  • Processing problems: The adhesive properties can hinder transportation in cutting machines or other processing equipment.

Contamination tendency: The shiny surface of the tubing attracts all kinds of dust and dirt, which can be problematic, especially in a clean environment.

Solution: Talcum coating

  • Reduction of stickiness: The application of talcum powder makes the sticky surface dry and reduces the adhesive property completely.

  • Increased gliding ability: The now matt surface with its widely reduced friction, makes it easier to move the protection tubings against each other, or when being moved in a cutter.

  • Reduced sensitivity to dirt: The matt surface attracts much less dust or dirt when being moved around.

Instructions for use:

  • Problems with self-application: in principle, talcum can be applied by anyone. However, talc tends to spread throughout the environment, which can be a nuisance in offices, equipment or production facilities.

  • Solution from Bastech GmbH: As a manufacturer, Bastech already offers talcum-coated hoses to avoid the problem of talcum contamination.
